While their father is away fighting in the Civil War Sadie and Mollie Shriver share a quiet moment in their bedroom enjoying a tea party.
Heide Presse, a renowned artist from Tampa, Florida, visited the Shriver House Museum and fell in love with the house and its story. She asked if she could use the Shriver's home as a backdrop for one of her paintings. Heide enlisted the help of two young Gettysburg girls to portray Mollie and Sadie Shriver.
Dressed in mid-19th century clothing, they spent the afternoon playing in the Shriver girl's bedroom while Heide took countless photographs. The result is this beautiful painting called "Tea Party".
