The Brave Wife

The Brave Wife
by Currier & Ives

Currier & Ives never intended to produce prints of great value. Rather than aspiring to have their work exhibited in the nation's fine art museums and galleries, they sought to have it hung on the walls of America's homes, stores, barbershops, firehouses, barrooms, and barns.

Currier & Ives produced more than two hundred prints of the American Civil War - the vast majority of which illustrated the great battles of the war. In stark contrast to the reality that appeared through the lens of photographers like Mathew Brady, Currier & Ives also produced patriotic prints that portrayed the sacrifices made by Union soldiers and their families including "The Brave Wife".

Reproduced from an original Currier & Ives "The Brave Wife" print and mounted in a hand-made, hand-grained frame which measures 12.75" wide by 17" high.

Price: $75.00 (framed)
