Heide Presse, a renowned artist from Tampa, Florida, visited the Shriver House Museum and fell in love with the house and its story. She asked if she could use the Shriver's home as a backdrop for one of her paintings. Heide enlisted the help of two young Gettysburg girls to portray Mollie and Sadie Shriver.
Dressed in mid-19th century clothing, they spent the afternoon playing in Sadie's and Mollie's bedroom while Heide took countless photographs. While taking a break in the garden, "Mollie" spotted the watering can proclaiming it to be hers. The result is this beautiful painting called "The Gardener's Daughter.
