Gardener's Daughter Raffle
Historic Preservation Project
Historic Restoration Project
On Remembrance Day weekend, our neighbor, Elaine Henderson of Lincoln Into Art, drew the winning raffle ticket for The Gardener’s Daughter print. After a number of phone calls back and forth, we were finally able to get in touch with the winner, Joan Schwartz of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. Proceeds from the raffle will go toward the reproduction of the original wallpaper found in the Shrivers’ parlor during the 1996 restoration.
Our deepest appreciation to all those who supported this historic restoration project. The Shrivers’ were one of the wealthiest families in town when they built their home on Baltimore Street in 1860. Restoring the wallpaper will go a long way to demonstrate the affluence of this young family whose lives were just getting started before the Civil War altered their dreams.
A special thanks goes to the artist, Heide Presse, for her beautiful piece depicting Sadie in the Shrivers’ garden on a warm late-August afternoon surrounded by morning glories and black-eyed Susan’s.
